CA Finally Posts Free Online Training to Satisfy SB 1343 Requirement for Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

SB 1343 requires employers with 5 or more employees to provide training on Sexual Harassment Prevention. Part of the legislation stated that the CA Department of Fair Employment and Housing would provide free online training that would satisfy the requirement. Initially, all employees were to receive training by January 1, 2020. But, because the State hadn't rolled out the free online resources yet, that deadline was pushed to January 1, 2021.

The State has finally launched their site and employers may now begin instructing their employees to complete the training by the end of the year.

The training resources can be accessed here: Department of Fair Employment and Housing "Sexual Harassment Prevention Training webpage.

Which training to watch?

There is one training for Supervisors and a separate training for Non-Supervisors. Be sure to instruct employees which session they need to watch. Per SB 1343, Supervisors will receive two hours of training and Non-Supervisors will receive a one-hour training.

Can I return to the session if I can't complete it in one viewing?

"The training module will not save your progress. If you refresh or reload the page, you may lose your progress toward completion."

How do employees provide documentation when they have completed the training?

"At the end of the training, you will have the option to utilize a certificate of completion. Using computer/mobile device functions, you can choose to save, print, take a screenshot, or email the certificate. Please consult your employer for direction on if/how they prefer to receive the certificate."
